HOMEOPATHIC

Homeopathic treatment has been around for a long time.  Proponents of this treatment argue that both Aristotle and Socrates supported the theory of treating “like with like”. However it was not until the 18th century that the approach became actively used.  For this we thank Samuel Hahnemann, who soon became recognized as the Father of Homeopathy.  Even Grandma knew about it and used it.  Our Grandmothers called it “fighting fever with fever”. What we find today is that many modern alternative medicinal approaches use variations of this.

Dr. H.R. Roberts, a pioneer Homeopath argues that in ten centuries BC, Hindu systems of medicine were based on a theorem called Chikitsa.  Chikitsa is based upon Chikit which means “disease” and sa means “similar”.

The Arab community refined the model for homeopathic treatment and incorporated it into their Yunani medical system. They called it Hikmat meaning “similar disease.”

Historical reports refer to migrators passing the knowledge to native Bantu and Zulu tribes of Africa.  Whether these travelers came from India, Arabic countries or Egypt is open for speculation. However, the important point is that homeopathic treatment was used by many countries long ago.

The basic premise behind homeopathic treatment is that like cures like. Many readers may find this a very nebulous expression, requiring clarification.

When a patient displays a specific ailment, they demonstrate major specific symptoms. Frequently, when this happens the body decides to shut down. Dis-ease becomes a way of healing itself. The visible symptoms reflect how individuals cope with stress somewhere in the body.  The objective of a homeopathic treatment is finding a remedy that either treats the origin or as many symptoms as possible. As example, an indigenous plant in Europe, Arnica Montana, is effective as a salve or tincture for anti-inflammatory and pain-relief. Arnica produces the same symptoms in a large portion and it aggravates the body.  What "Grandma" did was apply extremely small quantities of Arnica onto the muscle.

When you use a homeopathic treatment, you give the patient an extremely small dose of the agents that produces the same symptoms in a healthy person. For example,  both Hypothyroid and Sciatic Pain Relief benefit from this method. A practitioner would prepare a homeopathic treatment by diluting the substance in a series of steps. Preparations for homeopathic treatments are so highly diluted that no molecules of the original substance are likely to remain after dilution. Homeopathy asserts that the remedy will retain a memory of the diluted substance. When you need to change the therapeutic potency of a homeopathic treatment remedy, you simply increase it by serial dilution combined with succussion, or vigorous shaking.

Why should people use homeopathic treatment instead Western medicine or natural remedies?

Since its inception, homeopathy has received significant criticism based upon scientific and medical grounds. One argument or criticism is that it removes healing from the scientific community. I believe they can all work together in harmony.

Personally, I can attest to the success of homeopathic treatments. I have suffered from allergies for most of my life.  When I discovered the physical damage my body was incurring from commercial antihistamines, I switched to homeopathic preparations.  I found I took fewer, in the allergy season, they lasted longer and they cost less. One of the functions of a homeopathic treatment is improving general health by decreasing the state of susceptibility to the disease. Remedies based upon herbal preparations and homeopathic treatments specifically successfully accomplish this.
