A SIMPLE DOSHA QUIZ

Previously, on the DOSHA page, we explained the basic principles of our physical constitution according to the ancient science of Ayurveda.  For details, I recommend you refer back to this file. Our constitution represents our natural psychological and physical nature.  Good health is the result of a balanced constitution, according to your personal structure, not universal guidelines. Ayurveda, or dosha guidelines, help you understand what you need to do in order to be healthy, providing, you know your constitution. Identifying exactly who you are according to your dosha blend is not always feasible.  However, you can discover what the general tendencies of your body are and learn to identify imbalances.

Why is it difficult? There are many variables such as season, weather, age or diet affecting the accuracy of your interpretation. Quite naturally, an Ayurvedic physician provides the most accurate results.  However, if you approach a quality Dosha Quiz seriously, then you will begin to understand your identity and how to look for imbalances.

For example, if a Dosha Quiz asked you to describe your body build, a responsible answer would look at your overall structure, ignoring facts such as age, pregnancy, temporary weight gain or illness. . You have total recall of a lifetime to draw upon, a western doctor only looks at current situations.  An Ayurveda Physician has learned how to read a body at many levels.  He, or she, also knows how illness affects the body. But, they do not always know your history. If you are conscientious with your answers to the dosha quiz, this can help medical practitioners in all disciplines whether they originate in the Eastern or Western science.

As we approach a Dosha Quiz, we need to remember one important point.  If the prevailing question asks whether you are tall or short, we must look at it from the perspective of your family.  If your entire family is short, say less than five and a half feet and you are over that, then you are tall even if you are short by your cultural standards. Comparing multiple cultures give a different outlook but this is not what you are after.  The key here is – When you take a dosha quiz, recall your family traits and your own relevant history.

For this Dosha Quiz, we are looking at two different ones.

The first quiz has nineteen (19) multiple choice questions. How do you see yourself?

In the second dosha quiz, I am asking you to circle or check a description IF you think it applies to you. Simply circle it if the answer is yes.

There is an overlap between these two dosha quizzes. Depending upon your outlook, one may be more precise.
